PROGRAM

DAY 01 HANOI ARRIVAL [-/-/-]

On arrival, pick up and transfer to hotel. (Official check in time: 14h00)

First discovery of Ha Noi – the capital of the Viet Nam, located in northern region of Vietnam, situated in the Vietnam’s Red River delta, nearly 90 km away from the coastal area

Panoramic 01 hour cyclo tour throught the old quarter in the afternoon followed by a visit of Ngoc Son Temple and Hoan Kiem Lake.

Drop off at the Thang Long theatre for Water Puppet Show, the unique Vietnamese traditional art. This art originates from rural festivals in Vietnam. The artists-men and women-stand waist-deep in the water to manipulate the puppets, making them move about, talk and laugh and even dance on the surface of the water.

DAY 02 HANOI – LAO CAI [B/L/D]

Breakfast at hotel.
In the morning, visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and his former residence, One Pillar Pagoda, and Temple of Literature – the first university in Ha Noi Vietnam

Lunch at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, continue to visit the Ethnology Museum, the biggest and most interesting museum in Hanoi to understand more about Vietnamese People and culture.

In the evening, transfer to the train station. Board the night train bound for Lao Cai. Overnight on train (4berth Superior cabin on a local train)

DAY 03 LAO CAI – BAC HA – SAPA [B/L/-]

Arrive at lao cai station in the early morning, breakfast at a local restaurant
Depart to one of the several minority markets in the region. Depending on the day, markets can be held in different villages. Here you will meet various ethnic minorities who come to exchange not only the goods but also the gossips from their own community.

Walk to Ban Pho village – the land of colorful Hmong, discover their culture, daily life and art of fermenting corn alcohol.

Then drive through winding road to sapa. Sapa is home to numerous colorful hill tribes (black h’mong, flower h’mong, red dao) and to vietnam’s highest peak mount fansipan.

DAY 04 SAPA – LAO CAI – HA NOI [B/L/D]

Breakfast at the hotel.
Take a walking tour for visit Cat Cat village. You can see along the road many montagnards from surrounding villages. They dress their most colourful costumes and head to the market to exchange goods or sell self-made souvenirs.
Lunch at local restaurant.
Depart to Ta Phin Village to meet friendly Hmong and Red Dao minorities, explore their famous handicrafts making and the old French catholic church.
Then back to Lao Cai.
Dinner at local restaurant.

In the evening, transfer to the train station. Board the night train back to Ha Noi. Overnight on train (4 berth Superior cabin on a local train)

DAY 05 HANOI – HA LONG [B/L/D]

Arrival early in Ha Noi, breakfast at local restaurant.
Transfer 160 km east to Ha Long (approx. 4 – hours driving).
Upon arrival in Halong Bay, board your boat for an unforgettable cruise.
Welcome seafood lunch on board.
Cruise in Ha Long bay visiting some islands and caves. Possibility of kayaking (optional) around some nice beaches.
Late afternoon, admire the sunset over the bay, enjoy happy hour on the bar deck or attend a cooking demonstration.
Dinner and overnight on board.

Note: There are many boat companies offering cruises on Ha Long bay. The comfort level, decorations style, even itinerary may be slightly different. The itinerary suggests a general impression of the activities, specific details will be advised depending on the confirmed cruise and may be subject to change depending on weather conditions

DAY 06 HALONG – HANOI – DANANG – HOI AN [Brunch/-]

Start the day with a Tai Chi class on sundeck.
After have breakfast, continue cruising the bay, visiting some other highlights.
Have a brunch before disembarkation.
Return to Ha Long wharf, disembark and transfer back to Hanoi.
Transfer to the airport for flight to Da Nang.
Arrival, pick up and transfer to hotel in Hoi An.

DAY 07 HOI AN – HUE [B/L/-]

Breakfast at hotel.
Walking tour of Hoi An to discover the historic town which used to be a prosperous seaport city during the 16th to 18th centuries. Visit Hoi An colorful local market, Tan Ky old house, Fukien Assembly Hall, and the 400-year-old Japanese covered bridge. Travelers can also see local residents raise silkworms and produce silk for Hoi An’s burgeoning textile industry.

Drive to Hue across the Hai Van Pass, literally means “cloud and sea” pass. Stop on the summit, and admire the beautiful scenery and stunning landscape of Central Vietnam. A stop at fishing village in Lang Co and Hai Van pass.

DAY 08 HUE [B/L/-]

Breakfast at hotel
Take a boat cruise along the romantic Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, one of the oldest ancient architectural structures for religious worship in Hue.

Visit the splendid Imperial Citadel from where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 to 1945 – Royal Palace of 13 Kings of Nguyen Dynasty with Ngo Mon Gate (The Noon Gate), Thai Hoa Palace, The Purple Forbidden City, The Mieu (Dynastic Temple), Hien Lam Pavilion (Pavilion of Splendor), The Nine Dynastic Urns, then stop at Duyet Thi Duong to enjoy the Hue “Ceremonial Court” music show – which is recognized as World Immaterial Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.

In the afternoon, visit the elaborate mausoleum of emperor Tu Duc, this tomb constructed between 1864 and 1867, is the most popular and impressive of the royal mausoleums. Emperor Tu Duc designed it himself to use before and after his death.

Continuation to visit Minh Mang’s mausoleum located on the left bank of the Huong River, which represents the perfect harmony between nature and architecture.

Then visit tomb of Khai Dinh, It was built from 1920 to 1931 taking 11 years to complete. The tomb is a blend of Western and Eastern architecture. It is located on a steep hill outside of the capital city of Hue.

Visit the conical hat and an incense stick-making village and then walk on Dong Ba central market, discover a lot of things different from your home and the social interaction with local vendors is one of the highlight.

DAY 09 HUE- HO CHI MINH CITY [B/-/-]

Transfer to the airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh.

On arrival, pick up and transfer to hotel.

Learn more about the Vietnam War with a visit to the Reunification Palace and the war remnants Museum

Visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office to view the French colonial architecture and Ben Thanh market – the biggest market and symbol of Saigon.

DAY 10 HO CHI MINH – CAI BE – VINH LONG – CAN THO [B/L/-]

Drive to Cai Be, 2.5-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, take a boat trip along the Mekong River to view the daily life of local people who work and play on the waterways of the Mekong Delta. The trip includes a visit to canal where the floating market at Cai Be takes place, and to a family-run business producing rice paper and corn flakes of Vietnamese style – a key ingredient in Vietnamese cuisine.

Disembark at Vinh Long and transfer to Can Tho.

DAY 11 CAN THO – HO CHI MINH [B/L/-]

Breakfast at the hotel.
Boat trip on the Mekong River to visit Cai Rang, the most burstling floating market in Mekong Delta. Continue to cruise among small, snaking canals if water level permits to get closer look into daily life.
Visit a fruit garden and then visit the Binh Thuy Ancient House (over 100 years old). Observe the rural life and admire the lush vegetation along the riverbanks and discover Can Tho’s colorful market.

Passport needs to be left blank enough for sealing and valid at least 6 months from the date of entry. Holders of boarding pass are required to present the verification of effective re-entry.

Visitors to Vietnam are required of visa.

Tourists from regions affected by infectious fever or common epidemics must be vaccinated. Local drugstores in Vietnam carry many common pharmaceuticals which are widely accessible.

Currency

Vietnam’s currency is Vietnam Dong (VND). Bank notes include: VND500,000; VND200,000; VND100,000; VND50,000; VND20,000; VND10,000; VND5000; VND2000; VND1000; VND500; VND200. Coins were also introduced, but are less common.

Tourists can use traveler’s checks or credit cards (American Card, VISA Card or JCB Card…) to convert foreign currencies to Dong or make transactions in large retail stores, hotels, restaurants and department stores.

Foreign currencies are converted to VND in banks, exchange kiosks, hotels or jewelry stores granted currency exchange licenses.
